Monitoring
MIB and OID
The tree of numbered names every SNMP value lives at, and the files that put words on the numbers.
.1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0 is SNMPv2-MIB::sysName.0: a path through a tree shared by every vendor. MIB files
on the station say what each number is called and its type; the agent never sends them. Tables, like IF-MIB's
ifTable, add an index to each column's OID: ifDescr.3, ifHCInOctets.3 are both about card 3.
